Computed Tomography and Ultrasound Guided Cryoablation of the Salivary Glands in a Porcine Model (2014)

This research tested cryoablation to permanently resolve the drooling that so many people from cerebral palsy suffer from.  Previously, temporary treatments produced dry-mouth side effects which can lead to dental problems and discomfort.  New treatments desperately are needed.

Initial Observations

  • Individuals with CP often drool involuntarily.
  • No permanent treatments exist.

Core Question

  • Will cryoablation permanently end drooling?
